Z - Sept 2024

I’m not your typical guy when it comes to problem-solving. At ages 24 and 26, I earned two U.S. patents (polymer chemistry) simply by doing what I do best—looking at things from a different perspective. This knack for thinking outside the box has served me well my entire career, and especially now in managing my Parkinson’s diagnosis. I’m not one to accept the status quo; instead, I explore, test, and evaluate, all while keeping my sense of humor intact.

"Measured Shotgun Approach"

My regimen includes a pescatarian diet, exercises ranging from an excellent Rock Steady Boxing program along with rowing, recumbent bike, walking (fast enough to maintain target heart rate) traditional PD meds like Rytary and Inbrija. In the past 18 months I have included an entire mix of naturopathic and integrative medicine/therapies including, vitamins, minerals, red light therapy, acupuncture, and deep tissue massage. If something works, I keep it. If it doesn’t, it’s out the door. I’ve learned that “no pain, no gain” doesn’t work for me—less can actually be more.

What really helps? Being married to a retired clinical research scientist who spent 35 years developing neuroscience drugs, but lucky for me, she also embraces a more holistic approach to medicine. Together, we’ve come up with a system that works for me. We met Dr Mischley at a conference where she was a speaker in 2022 and attended her summer school program in 2023. My results have been dramatic and I look forward to sharing some insights and experiences from my personal journey.
