Parkinson's School was created to be a resource for patients and their family members. Clinic visits are too few and far between and patients have questions that are going unanswered. Over the past 20 years I've treated over 4000 patients with Parkinson's and these courses represent the themes I find myself repeating.
Throughout 2020, a new course will be released on the 14th and 28th of every month. Comments and course discussion will be open for the two weeks after each course to allow time for questions. After comments close, you will continue to have unlimited access to the videos and may watch them as often as you'd like.
In 2021, on the 14th & 28th of every month I'll host a live 60-90 min Discussion related to the course on that same date in 2020. I'll start by reporting what new information I've learned since last year, tell you what I wish I'd said differently in the recorded course, and answer questions. Only enrolled students in the course may participate in the Discussion.
As far as I know, online education programs to teach patients to better navigate their disease do not exist. I'm hoping this program will stimulate conversation, collaboration, and a sense of empowerment throughout the community.
Dr. Mischley has spent the past two decades studying the unique nutritional requirements of people with Parkinsonism and working to find better ways to measure, monitor, predict, and prevent PD. Her academic training is in naturopathic medicine (ND), nutrition (PhD), and epidemiology (MPH). She built the Parkinson Symptom Tracking App (www.pd-symptoms.com), has trained dogs to detect the scent of parkinsonism in ear wax (ParK-9.com), is lead investigator of the MVP-Study.com, and is founder of the Parkinson Center for Pragmatic Research (CPR). She created Parkinson-School.com in 2020 as a way to empower patients, accelerate education and catalyze some long overdue conversations.
